Gary J. Borgstede was born in New Orleans at Ochsner Foundation Hospital on July 5, 1966. He grew up in the surrounding communities of New Orleans attending and completing his high school education at Archbishop Rummel High School, graduating in the top 5 percent with High Honors in May of 1984. He then attended Louisiana State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in May of 1988. After joining the workforce as a Territory Sales Representative for McCormick & Co., Inc. selling spices in the Louisiana region, he attended Southeastern Louisiana University earning a Masters of Business Administration graduate degree in May of 1991.

Upon graduation from Southeastern Louisiana University, Gary began his career in financial management with Shell Offshore, Inc. as an entry level Accountant. After 2 years of dedicated service to Shell, he decided to pursue a career in health care financial management, joining Ochsner Clinic in 1993 as a Financial Analyst in the Budget and Finance department. In 1996, he became a Certified Public Account in the State of Louisiana, successfully passing all parts of the CPA exam. Throughout his 16 year career at Ochsner, he has contributed to the success of Ochsner as a Financial Analyst, Sr. Financial Analyst, Director of Reimbursement, Administrator of Business Services, and Vice President of Finance Business Services, General Manager of Elmwood Fitness Center, System Vice President of Finance Business Services, and Vice President of Operations for Ochsner Medical Center, Elmwood Fitness Center, and the Brent House Hotel.

At Ochsner Health System, Gary has become well respected as a solid, competent leader of process, technology, and people. Plus, affectionately known by his teams as an organizational Chief Make It Happen Leader, he has earned the respect of the people on his teams as a caring, servant leader, possessing a positive attitude, and totally committed to living Make It Happen Team Values with his team. By focusing on the strengths of people, it is Gary’s sincere pleasure and desire to maximize the talent, gifts, and potential of each person on his team, causing ordinary people to become extraordinary people in both their professional and personal lives.

In addition to his full-time responsibilities at Ochsner, Gary has been an internal faculty teacher at the Ochsner Learning Institute, teaching Ochsner leaders Management Accountability principles, People Management skills, and Revenue Cycle Process Management. Additionally, Gary has founded The Make It Happen Learning Institute to educate and inspire leaders in corporate America to develop their God-given leadership potential and create cultures of empowerment in the workplace that turns ordinary mediocre teams into extraordinary high-performing teams. As a well seasoned business executive, published author, and national speaker, Gary possesses a dynamic teaching style that will entertain, inspire, and educate people on faith-based leadership values that empower others to make a difference in life, serving people and solving problems, with a spirit of wisdom and excellence!
